Video & Photo Editor / Media Manager

We are seeking creative, enthusiastic candidates for a video & photo editor / media manager position.

Destination by Design (DbD)

Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Remote

Destination by Design is seeking a Video & Photo Editor / Media Manager to help tell the stories of communities and destinations across the country.

DbD is a multidisciplinary planning, design, engineering, and communications firm. We work with cities, counties, tourism agencies, and nonprofit partners to help places plan for their future, invest in their assets, and communicate what makes them distinctive.

Job Overview

This role combines hands-on editing with stewardship of DbD’s photo and video library. You will turn original footage and photography into compelling work for client campaigns, websites, social media, presentations, and other communications. You will also make sure the media behind that work is organized, protected, and easy for our team to find and reuse.

The position reports to the Director of Visual Content and works closely with our communications, design, and project teams. It is a full-time remote position suited to someone who enjoys both visual storytelling and building dependable systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit short-form videos, campaign pieces, interviews, and other client and firm content.
  • Select, color-correct, retouch, and prepare photographs for digital and print use.
  • Shape edits through thoughtful pacing, music, sound, color, and graphics.
  • Prepare cuts for review, incorporate feedback, and deliver final files in the formats each project needs.
  • Ingest, label, organize, and archive footage, photographs, audio, project files, and final deliverables.
  • Maintain clear file naming, metadata, version control, and backup practices.
  • Create searchable selects and collections so team members can find relevant media across projects.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Visual Content to identify missing assets and keep post-production moving.
  • Maintain a consistent standard of quality while adapting each piece to the place, audience, and project goals.

Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating video editing and photo editing skills.
  • Professional experience editing video and photographs for clients, organizations, or campaigns.
  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and Capture One, or the ability to work confidently within those project workflows. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is welcome.
  • Sound judgment in storytelling, color, audio, composition, and platform-specific delivery.
  • Experience organizing and managing substantial photo and video libraries.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate progress clearly, and meet deadlines while working remotely.
  • Careful attention to detail in both creative work and file management.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience supporting proposal development teams
  • Familiarity with civic, municipal, or tourism clients
  • Wayfinding or environmental graphic experience
  • GIS familiarity
  • Motion graphics or light animation skills

What Makes This Opportunity Different

Your work will help communities show who they are and what they aspire to become. You will collaborate with the people creating the content in the field, help shape its final story, and build a media library that makes that work valuable long after a project is delivered.
